RIEGER

Description: Joseph Rieger   geigenmacher in Mittenwald an der Isser   1826.   Yes, this violin has cosmetic issues, but this is one of the sweetest violins I've heard.   It's my favorite.   The top suffered some wormwood damage and a dark brown varnish was applied to the top and sides in an attempt to hide this.   Past work includes peg bushings and a neck graft.  The top is fine-grained spruce, the back is one-piece flamed maple and the lower rib is one-piece.   All the fittings are ebony.   ProArte strings.

Year: 1826 in Mittenwald, Germany
