Description: Italian violin from Milan? Repaired in 1926 by B. F. Phillips, 931 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh, PA. Past work includes a grafted neck, peg bushings, back seam re-inforcing and a sound post patch. Re-varnishing might have been done. The top is medium-grained spruce, the back is two-piece flamed maple. The fingerboard is ebony and the fittings are boxwood. Dominant strings. Rich, full sound with an especially nice "G" string.
